01Who we are
Time Dates runs timedates.org, a free website with clocks, calendars, public holidays, date calculators and sun and moon times. In this policy, "we" and "us" mean Time Dates. Questions about this policy can be sent to info@timedates.org.
02The short version
- You can use every tool without an account, and we never ask for your name to use the site.
- Your time zone, language and location are used inside your browser to show your local information. They are not sent to us.
- We use Google Analytics to count visits and see which pages are useful. It sets cookies and receives details of your visit, as explained below.
- We do not show advertising, and we never sell or rent personal data.
03Information used in your browser
To show your own time, holidays and sunrise, the page reads settings that your browser already shares with every website:
- Your time zone, for example Asia/Kolkata, to show your local time and pick your country.
- Your preferred language, as a backup for picking your country.
- Your location, only if you press Use my location and allow it in the browser prompt. It is used to calculate sunrise, sunset and moon times on your device.
These calculations happen in your browser. The results are not sent to our servers, and closing the page clears them.
04Information our servers receive
Like every website, our servers receive some technical details when your browser asks for a page or a file:
- Your IP address
- Your browser and device type
- The page or file requested, with the date and time
- The page you came from, if your browser sends it
Holiday dates for your country are loaded as a file from our own server, so the request shows which country file was loaded. We use these records only to keep the site secure and working, and keep them no longer than needed for that purpose.
05Cookies and similar technologies
Time Dates itself does not set cookies and does not store anything in your browser's local storage. Google Analytics, which we use to count visits, sets its own cookies, such as _ga, to tell visits apart and recognise returning visitors.
You can block or delete these cookies in your browser settings, or install the Google Analytics opt-out add-on to stop Google Analytics on every website. Your browser may also keep copies of our pages, fonts and images in its cache so the site loads faster next time.
06When you contact us
If you email us, we receive your email address, your name if you include it, and your message. We use them only to reply and to fix any problem you report. We do not add you to a mailing list and do not share your message. You can ask us to delete your emails at any time.
07Other companies
Our own scripts, fonts and images are served from our site. The exception is Google Analytics, provided by Google, which loads a script from Google and receives details of each visit: the pages you view, your device and browser, how you arrived, and your approximate location worked out from your IP address. Google handles this data under its privacy policy.
Our hosting provider processes server records on our behalf to deliver the website. Our pages also link to other websites, such as official time and holiday sources, and those websites have their own privacy policies.
08Analytics and advertising
We use Google Analytics to understand how many people visit Time Dates and which pages they use, so we can improve the site. We look at this information in combined reports and do not use it to identify you.
We do not show advertising. If we add advertising in the future, we will update this policy before doing so and ask for your consent where the law requires it.
09Children
Time Dates is a general information website that anyone can use without sharing personal data. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
10Your rights
Depending on where you live, laws such as the General Data Protection Regulation in Europe and the United Kingdom, or the privacy laws of California and other US states, may give you the right to:
- Ask what personal data we hold about you
- Ask us to correct or delete it
- Object to or limit how we use it
- Complain to your local data protection authority
Because we hold very little personal data, most requests are simple. Write to info@timedates.org with Privacy in the subject.
11Security
Time Dates is served over an encrypted connection. We keep the personal data we receive to a minimum, which is the strongest protection of all.
12Changes to this policy
If we change how we handle data, we will update this page and the date at the top. Important changes will be explained here before they take effect.
